My latest is #30 in the "In Death" series by J.D. Robb and as usual, it was an easy, mindless (not an negative thing) and enjoyable read. This one has our main character - Lt. Eve Dallas - searching for the killer of an up-and-coming gaming developer. Bart Minnock seems to have literally lost his head while playing a virtual enemy. The clues are few and far between considering the victim was home alone and all indications show that no security was breached in his home allowing a killer in. Eve once again turns to her cache of assistants in the NYPSD including her "expert civilian consultant" and husband Rourke.
I really liked this book - of course - and was actually fooled into thinking that the killer was someone else. Again - if you haven't tried these books, I absolutely recommend especially if you need something that will allow you to escape your life if only for a bit.

Promises In Death By J.D. Robb
So I've (long ago) finished the above. It's #28 in the "In Death" series and once again it doesn't disappoint.
In this book, Eve Dallas and her team are investigating the murder of Amarylis Coltraine -Dallas’s friend Chief Medical Examiner Morris's girlfriend. Coltraine had recently transferred to the New York City police force from Atlanta because she needed a change of scenery after a long-term relationship had ended. Eve soon discovers a connection to Coltraine's ex-boyfriend, Alex Ricker, whose father, a notorious criminal serving a life sentence at the Omega Penal Colony, blames Dallas and her husband, Roarke, for his imprisonment. In addition, the killer sends Eve a package containing Coltraine’s badge, weapon, and a taunting note suggesting that she might be next on the list, Eve finds herself trying to untangle a case that may be linked to her own past.
Again, another winner for Robb...easy, fulfilling reads when you need a break from the "too deep".
Since this read, I've read Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer again (I won't re-review that) and Goodnight, Irene by Jan Burke. I won't review the Jan Burke since it is a re-read (I'm going to do it with my language arts class next year) but if you haven't experience the Irene Kelly series by Jan Burke you need to - they rock! Great mysteries!

Salvation In Death by J.D. Robb
I pick up an "In Death" book every time I finish a difficult read or something that has left me slightly exhausted. It's ability to provide pure entertainment, escape and a quick read never fails to deliver. Once again, if you haven't read this series and are a lover of mystery and well-developed characters, pick one up...you won't be disappointed.
Strangers In Death by J.D. Robb
Well, I've finished my latest read - the 26th in the "...In Death" series (featuring the recurring characters of NYPSD cop Eve Dallas and her mega-billionaire, hunky Irish husband Rourke). This one took place in March of 2060 and revolved around the murder of a prominent businessman killed in what looks to be a kinky sexcapade gone wrong. Eve knows quickly who she believes to be the culprit but must use her team of cops, friends and experts to help her put together the evidence.
Once again, I enjoyed J.D. Robb's bit of futuristic police drama to the fullest. It's always good for a quick, easy and satisfying read. She does a great job at making her characters real and she develops them superbly each time she writes one for her series. Again, if you've yet to read her, do...and start at the beginning. You'll be hooked too.
I'm now rereading the 6th Harry Potter so it may be a bit before I review my next book. Later.

Creation In Death by J.D. Robb
I'm now on to the 25th novel in the "...In Death" series by J.D. Robb. A novel set in the future (2060) featuring Eve Dallas (an NYPSD lieutenant- New York Police and Security Department) and her husband Rourke who, together with a cast of recurring characters help to solve some heinous crime. This one focuses on the work of a serial killer returning after 9 years absence from New York. A serial killer that Eve and her then partner Feeney couldn't catch. They are now determined to nab the man who tests his ability to keep his victims alive through torture for as long as possible. These novels are always an easy read and I'm sure this one won't be different. I'll let you know.
Update: I've finished Creation in Death by J.D. Robb...once again, an engrossing, thriller filled with humor and the absolute "easy read" I was hoping for when I picked it up. If you've not read the "...in Death" series - do, and make sure to start at the begining!

Innocent In Death by J.D. Robb
Innocent in Death by J.D. Robb. This is her 24th book in the "Eve Dallas" and "Roarke" series. I needed something light and easy to read after 3 or 4 "heavy" books. Interestingly, it's an investigation about a teacher being murdered (poisoned hot chocolate). Specifically a history teacher! What the f&%K!!! How is it that I end up reading these books that I can relate to? I'm going to have to pay extra special attention to my students and make sure none of them have access to my coffee or creamer etc. I'm already about half-way through the book and as usual, it isn't disappointing me in it's ability to "take me away".
Update: She never disappoints. I like being able to pick up a book knowing that I'm not going to get bored with it nor will I hope to finish it quickly so I can move on to the next. This series is perfect because the characters stay the same, their likable and after reading something really heavy it's nice to relax with "old faithful".
Okay - best head up to the scatter pot and then shower. Later!
Ohhh! Lenny Kravitz!!! Gotta go shake my lump! Later!

Born In Death by J.D. Robb
So now I'm on to another J.D. Robb novel. I like to read her books when I want complete, mindless enjoyment. Her novels, set in the future (but not hokey) always are a hit and never disappoint. This one is called Born In Death and it is the 23rd in the series. I've read them all and they never get old or repetetive. Each one is fresh and new and because they involved recurring characters, the books keep "growing". The interesting thing is that in the 23 novels I've read, only about 2 or 3 years have gone by. It's pretty nice because you never feel like you've "missed" something in the characters lives. Anyway, I'm sure this will be a quick read and I'll be on to the next "heavy" novel by Sunday.
Memory In Death by J.D. Robb
This, the 22nd in the series explores Eve's past a little more when her former and cruel foster-mother shows up and bribes Eve and her husband Roarke for $2 million to keep quiet about Eve's past. Roarke tosses the woman out on her ear and the next day she is found murdered. Mystery ensues!
I finished my latest J.D. Robb - 3 1/2 out of 5 stars - good and entertaining as usual (though I knew who did it the whole time) and I'm on to my next read.
K - must go walk dogs! They're getting antsy and I don't think Bubba has gone out today (even though the door is open - he's a lazy ass) and I think he's got a turtle-head poking out! Hee hee! He's "touching fur"!
Origin In Death by J.D. Robb
Origin In Death by J.D. Robb is the 21st in the Death series staring the recurring characters of Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke. Set in 2059, this particular book explored the issue of cloning and the ramifications the world may have to deal with if/when this ever becomes perfected. I give this book 3 out of 4 stars. I do love the Death books. They are entertaining, funny and good whodunit suspense novels.
Survivor in Death by J.D. Robb
I'm reading Survivor in Death by J.D. Robb. This book is about the 10th in a series featuring the recurring characters of Eve Dallas a NYPSD (New York Police and Security Detective - I think) and her husband Roarke, a billionaire. I've read all the ones before this and have two others that I'll read this summer. These suspense/mystery novels take place in the future (2059) and though I usually don't like futuristic novels these don't shove unrealistic crap down your throat. The books can often be graphic in their violence but the author does a really good job at dialogue and her characters are funny and likable. For a quick, easy, entertaining read, I definitely recommend them.
