Origin by Diana Abu-Jaber

So, I've just started the above title - well, last night. This is another mystery. It takes place in Syracuse, New York and the main character, Lena Dawson, is a fingerprint expert with a delicate power of intuition (which sometimes helps her with her "detection"). She's working in a lab when SIDS is on the rise and when cribs deaths start showing up in her lap, no one else but Lena thinks this is more than just coincidence. She believes there is a serial baby-killer loose. Ooohhhh, scary!

So far, so good. I like Lena - though she is certainly flawed and I like too that there is quite a mystery surrounding her and her parentless past. I'll let you know how I it turns out.

Update:  Okay, I've finished reading Origin by Diana Abu-Jaber. Very good. I loved the main character, Lena. She was so quirky and confused while at the same time knowing exactly what she wanted (at least professionally). This book reminded me of early Kay Scarpetta novels (Patricia Cornwell) though the characters in the book were completely different. I actually had the basic mystery solved fairly quickly but the specific twists and turns were still surprising. A definite read.
