I've been reading about 3 books at once lately (one of them a re-read), plus listening to one so that's why I haven't posted lately.
My latest was a book that Becky had been telling me to read. Interestingly, I had it in my bookcase and didn't realize it. When I found it, I began reading and realized I had read it before. I don't know when but it must've been before I started my blog because I've never "reviewed" it. I should have though!
A Redbird Christmas focuses on several different characters but mainly Oscar T. Campbell - a 52-year-old vet with no family and failing health. He's told by his doctor that he's got only a year or so to live and that he needs to get out of the Chicago winter or he'll die right away. The doctor gives him a 90 year old brochure for a small town in Alabama called Lost River where he's promised heaven on Earth. What follows is a sweet, short story of Lost River's inhabitants and a climate the turns out to be life-saving for more than one individual.
I've been looking for a book where the characters didn't want to either make me shoot them or myself and FINALLY!!! I found one. If you need a "feel good" book, that's a quick read (only about 170 pages) where not much thought (that is a compliment) is needed, you can find it here. I do love Fannie Flagg and would definitely read her over and over again.
